Still In Newbury

I'm still alive. Exciting news this week here in the great California Ventura Mission. I'll just get started.

So, me and Sister Taylor have additional callings now! We are the zone Tech reps and on the Interactions team for the mission facebook page! Basically facebook. That's all I have to say about it so far. Desk stuff for an additional hour a day. Luckily, while we do that it makes less time for tracting!

I made banana bread muffins! Kind of random, but I had a picture of one so you get to hear about them. We had browning bananas so during preparation day we bought some flour and we had the rest. Baked them on thursday night. They were a hit between us at least. We finished more than half of them the first day! Then Rose gave us a gallon bag of chocolate chip cookies so, we are living on refined sugar I guess. XD

We had a baptism! Our friend Ash was baptized on Friday evening. It was really special! He had some friends in the ward and his Dad baptized him. It was small but lovely. The spirit was so strong.

Our friend Rose is moving, and she decided it'll probably be best to postpone her baptism unil after she moves. Understandable, but it's sad to see her go. Me, Sister Taylor and Rose's friend in the ward have been helping her pack her things into boxes and donating everything she won't use anymore. So far it's been three car loads of stuff donated, so she's really downsizing! I just wonder how she got all that stuff there in the first place. Funny thing is she said she doesn't know either.

On Sunday we helped our friend Carla put together some shelves in her garage! I remember last week I mentioned we helped a lady clean out her garage. This time we were organizing it. Building stuff isn't that hard to be honest. You follow the directions on the package and you're golden. Dad, I love you, but you made that kind of thing seem harder than it is. Then we had a zoom meeting where the converts of the last few years bore their testimonies because President and Sister Carter are now released. It was very sweet and it reassures me that missionary work does actually work, even though less than one out of ten accept the message. There's still those few out there that will love and accept the message we are giving.

We are teaching someone new! There's a young lady in the ward who's family isn't active, but she's been coming back and she's been doing really well. As a result of seeing this, her little brother says he wants to be baptized! We're hoping that having the lessons in their home will help the rest of the family strengthen their faith too. He's a really smart kid and is really excited.

On Monday we got a call on our way to dinner and it was a guy named Alex who wants to learn more about our church! Apparently our phone number is on Google maps on the building information so he called it. We met with him on Tuesday! Sweet man. Interesting thing is, he's from thr Soviet union and knows nothing about God or faith. So we have to start from scratch. It's okay though, he's pretty eager to learn.

So, one of our pictures has a kind of funny story. We had to get our windshield replaced and the people unplugged TIWI. So there we are holding her. Can't tell us to check our speed now! Ha! We'll get her fixed next time we go to the mission office.

That's all for this week folks! I'll write again next week.
