Sittin In The Trunk Of Our Car, Thinkin Celestial

Hi everyone! Welcome back. We've had a good week here in Newbury park. So, let's get started. Better buckle your seatbelt because I have a feeling this one's going to be a doozy. I'm putting headings on the paragraphs so you can read what you want to.

Chalk Drawings:

I'm sure you'd love to know that we went Chalking again. We are completely out of neutral colors at this point, so everyone got a rainbow church. Some pretty funky colors. I'm also including a couple of other drawings I think I forgot to put in previous emails. They were kind of fun.

Horses:

Friday was fantastic as always. I've grown to really like Fridays. Service with the horses is always fun. We also usually have our after-baptism lessons with William and Anthony on Fridays too, and they are awesome! I have a great story to tell all of you in just a moment, but I'm going to tell y'all about the horse of the week first.

I think I'm losing track of what horses I've talked about. Anywhoo, I took a picture with Mony today. He's a good horse. Very beautiful. He is always sticking his head out of his stall and is pretty friendly. He's one of the tallest at Ride On.

William and Anthony Being the Coolest:

So, now I'll tell you about William and Anthony. So, we were having a discussion, reviewing the Restoration, and they asked us how they'd go about inviting someone to church. We both got excited because when they ask something like that, there's a story. So, Anthony was playing basketball, and a bunch of the youth from the ward came and cheered for him. He fits right in, it's crazy. William was sitting next to his neighbor, who asked where all those kids were from, since they weren't there last year. William said they were from church. He then said she said she wants to get her boys in there too! They are so stinking cool. They made a plan to invite them, and we told them we'd introduce ourselves. Oh, and part of our discussion we wanted to let them know what Patriarchal Blessings are, so we did and told them to pray about them. Later we go a message asking how they should go about getting one. They continue to blow my mind every time I swear.

General Conference:

General Conference! That was this weekend as I'm sure you all know. It was fantastic. We watched a couple of sessions with some friends. One with the couple we are teaching Naime and Nader. We had a great discussion after and they said they felt the spirit, which is fantastic! A little issue though is that while they speak and understand english when they can ask questions and when we speak slowly, it isn't their native language. Their native language is Farsee. I have no clue how to spell that. Gotta figure out how we can help them around that.

The other one we watched with one of our friends that we aren't really teaching. She wasn't progressing so we aren't teaching her, but we stop by and chat once in a while. We watched it with her and it was good. The session was fantastic, even though she slept through a lot of it lol.

Car Boothing at Walmart:

I don't know If I've mentioned this, but a way we've found is effective for contacting people is to sit in the trunk of our car with a whiteboard in a parking lot, and then invite everyone who comes near. It's actually pretty effective as silly as it sounds. Yesterday we did that at Walmart, and invited people to do family history. Only three out of the fourty people we contacted were remotely interested, but that's three still! Oh, and our District leader has us count how many invitations we give every day, and his face was precious. 40 in Newbury Park is amazing. There was also a kind member from Thousand Oaks who bought us vitamin waters. That was kind of her. Made our day.

Anywhoo, if you made it this far, congratulations. What are your favorite talks from Conference? I loved the prophet's of course. Also the one by Elder Philips of the 70, because his story about his kid Jasper was hilarious. Let me know what yours is! I'd love to hear it.
