Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm just going to say that this week has been a heck of a ride. Craziness galore. By the way, they switched my Preparation Day this week for Thanksgiving, so that's why this is a day late. Well, to the updates!
Two Exchanges!
We went on two exchanges this week. Yeah, big week already. The first one last week when I went out of my area and into Spanish land! Listened to a couple of lessons in which I caught probably 10% of what was being said. One works in the strawberry fields and one does not. That's really all I understood. Hermana Reece said that my spanish was pretty good and that I could switch to spanish if I wanted to, but to be honest being a missionary in my native language is hard enough.
Number two was with Hermana Nelson in my area! Much more comfy in my own area, but honestly at this point I'm used to Sister Mansfield doing most of the talking, so it was an adjustment to being the one that talks. We had two lessons with our friends Sandra and Jesus, which I think went well.
Baptism of Theo!
Our friend Theo was baptized on Saturday! It was simple but it was so sweet. Sister Mansfield played the piano and I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Theo has really become good friends with the people in the ward and he was positively beaming! We saw him again on Monday for a bible study group the ward does, and he looked so happy.
Sketchy Laundromat Lesson!
So a while after Theo's baptism on Saturday, we got a message from the other Sisters saying that there's a guy in our area and that they set up a lesson for us at 5:30, in the sketchy part of Santa Maria. Like, the part we're told not to go. We got there and Max is awesome! He's had a hard time in the past and wants something better for him and his son. His son is absolutely adorable by the way. He's so cool and he said that he's liked everything that we're teaching him so far. So I hope things go well with him!
Happy Thanksgiving by the way! We are having dinner with some members of the ward. I hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving, and I'll have to write again on Monday because it's Preparation Day again. We have a really big Zone Conference where a member of the 70 is visiting us. I'm praying it goes well.
