Being Home Is Weird
Hello everyone! Sorry it’s been a while since I sent an email. I got home and adjusting to being back is unlike anything else I’ve done. I’m still glad I am still a missionary though. That would have made this harder I’m sure.
Travel home!
On Wednesday the 17th I started traveling home. I flew out of the Burbank airport to Salt Lake and then from Salt Lake to St. George. It was a bit of a long day. Spent all day either in a plane or an airport. The flights weren’t long but there was a 4 hour layover in Salt Lake. I’m just glad I got home safely and that I was able to reunite with my family. They made me a cute poster and gave me the sweetest hugs.
Unpacking!
I got rid of a lot of stuff before I came out and then stowed it away and I came home to find that I don’t need a lot of that stuff either. In comparison to the three suitcases I was allowed, it was a lot! Went through it all and made my room look like mine again, which is a relief. Before it looked like “nobody lived there”, to quote Tysen 9 months ago. It was hardly touched apparently.
Service opportunities!
Now I know this is the part you all are excited about. As a Service Missionary, I get the opportunity to serve in the church and community. I have a shift once a week in the Family History Center, a shift in a soup kitchen and in a class for people with special needs. Also a shift at Deseret Industries. But what will be filling up a good chunk of my schedule is that I’ll have three shifts a week at the Red Cliffs temple open house. They are going to start this week so that’s exciting! I love the temple so much and I’m so excited that it is ready for people to see.
I’m excited to get these emails started up again. Since I have more liberty as to when I can send these, I think I’ll send these on Sunday evenings so that the missionaries in this list can read it before their preparation day. It has occurred to me that not every week will be exciting so if I don’t have any stories or whatnot I’m going to share things I’ve found in my studies. Hope you all don’t mind. Anywho, until next time!
