I Got To See More Family!

Well, hello again. Sorry this is a day late. My family returned home from a trip to Salt Lake yesterday and the thought of writing this seemed like the last thing I wanted to do. But, I’ve written it now and I guess better late than never. I’ll tell you about the trip after a story of sorts.

Makenna and the Mishap of the Forgotten Fork!

So this story is ridiculous but it actually happened so listen up. I had a gap between assignments last week on Monday, so I went and got some Panda Express for lunch and went to chill in my car until my shift at the Red Cliffs Temple Open house. But, I realized I forgot to get a fork. But by then I was almost half way there and it wasn’t worth turning back for one. But, the Red Cliffs Mall was on the way so I thought I’d see if I can get a cheap treat and a fork so I can actually eat my lunch. I walked in the door to Barnes and Noble (I resisted the temptation to look at the books, y’all should be proud!) and went through to the hallway thing that connects it to the rest of the stores in the mall. Immediately this dude called me pretty and asked if I had a boyfriend. I told him that since I’m a missionary, I’m not looking into any form of relationship at the moment. Turns out he hadn’t heard about the Church! I told him about the Young Single Adults ward (I don’t know where it is in St. George, but I told him it existed). After we were done talking this elderly couple came up to me smiling and said they thought service missionaries don’t proselyte! They were great and praised me for my service. That felt good at least. I don’t know if the other gentleman did anything with the information I gave him but hey! Maybe he’ll actually go and find a YSA girlfriend.  Unfortunately the mall only had places with finger foods, so no forks! I had to cross the street and bought an over priced cheesecake mainly for the fork.

1st Family Vacation Since Coming Back!

On Friday after my shift at the DI, in which I got my mom a new weird pitcher thing because she has been obsessed with them, we all left for Salt Lake to see some family from Mom’s side and see a show! It’s a place called Desert Star, and they do some pretty funny comedy plays! This one was about Pirates of the Carribean. It was so nice to see everyone since I wasn’t able to for 9 months!

So, here was the week! I hope my story telling skills conveyed the ridiculousness of the fork situation. Now hopefully I’ve learned to never forget utensils. Or if God wants to use that as an excuse to get me where I can tell people about the gospel, I might be alright with forgetting again. As my Comp Sister Mansfield always said, “Once you’re set apart as a missionary, all of you is set apart as a missionary!” Even my forgetfulness and my hungry stomach apparently. Alright, I’ll write again soon!
