Frisbees!
So, last week me, Ty and Keaton tried frisbee golf, and it was fun! However Ty accidentally threw his driver frisbee in the pond (we were in Grandpa’s Pond). Normally we just would have dismissed it and said “whelp it’s gone” but that particular frisbee Ty got on his mission in Oregon. So of course we stayed up late looking for it. But considering it was dark and the pond was murky we didn’t find anything.
But later Tysen went in his trunks and found his frisbee plus like 4 more. We don’t feel too bad for him. Especially since he just beat me in
skull king.
Deseret Industries!!
So since I didn’t last week, I get to talk about Deseret Industries! Otherwise known as the DI. What us volunteers do is we basically help the employees with whatever they’re doing. I usually work in the clothing department. Basically I sort out the good clothes from the ones we don’t keep. We check for stains, holes, and other wear and tear. We Bale the ones with those things, in which we either throw away or put to the church’s humanitarian efforts. The good ones we hang up to potentially sell in the stores.
Hanging up the clothes is another sorting process in and of itself. We sort between Women’s, Men’s and Children’s clothing. Believe it or not, sometimes it’s hard to tell. I guess a lot of the time to be honest. There are a few tricks though like how men’s pants have a hight and width instead of just a size number and how the Women’s buttons on button-up shirts are on the right side. Men’s are the left. Something about how when you put it on, the men would button it themselves and it would line up with where their right hands are. But women had servants so it would be on the side easiest for someone not in the shirt to do them up. Anyways, I would have never have learned that were it not for the fact that I work here. The employees are fun to work with. They’ve given each other nicknames and some of the missionaries too. I’ve got the nickname Ryan Reynolds since we got the same last name. So now I joke around and say he’s my cousin. I’m sure we’re related somehow but unfortunately I have not been able to use the Relatives Near Me with him. Just thought that was a funny little tidbit about that haha.
So, now that I have officially talked about each of my weekly assignments, is there anything that anyone feels that I should talk about? They have kind of been my prompt list for the last while so now I need to figure out something new I guess. If any of y'all have suggestions, let me know and I will gladly consider them.
