I Got A New Assignment!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well. Sorry I didn’t send this yesterday. We went on a hike at Zion and while it was absolutely beautiful as always, it wore me out. My knee was not happy by the end of it. On a good note, I got a picture of a buck with strangely shaped antlers!

So as the title of this email suggests, I have a new assignment. I tried it this week and I like it so far. I’ve also got some other things me and my companion were discussing that might be good food for thought. So let’s get into it and let me know what you think!

The Utah Food Bank!

The Utah Food Bank now has a station in hurricane, which we are pretty excited about. I’m excited because I don’t have to drive to St. George for this assignment! It’s also a pretty simple assignment too which is nice. What I did was show people around the little main space and told them what they could take. How it works is the people get a sign saying how big their family is, Small, Medium and Large. Based on that, they can take certain amounts of goods. Things like dairy products and fresh produce though are more lax because we don’t want it to go bad. When I was there they had quite a few crates of watermelons! And we told people to take as many as they want because we had so many!

Part of it was also to make sure people weren’t taking more than they were allowed because unfortunately I’ve heard there’s been some stealing. We try to encourage people to just take what they’d use so it doesn’t go to waste and we can give more to more people. From what I’ve seen so far though, hoarding is pretty rare.

Time Outdoors!

This weekend the family went to Zion as I said yesterday and we went to the Cabin for Friday and Saturday. It was pretty nice and I’ve got pictures!

Food for thought…

Me and my companions were reading in Alma 41 earlier this week and we were thinking. It says that all will be restored to its proper and perfect form in the resurrection, but Jesus has his scars from the cross still. Do you think it was a choice or is that his ‘perfect form’? For people who like things like their scars, you think they would be able to keep them if they so desire? I like to think it’s a choice because it says in verse twelve that restoration doesn’t mean to make someone opposite to what they are. Agency is Gods greatest gift to us, so I like to think that our agency plays a part in how we are resurrected. What do you all think?

So, I said last time that I was getting results for my knee. Well, if physical therapy doesn’t work I may have to do surgery. I’m giving it until the end of my mission and for the physical therapy to work its magic. The surgery would be quite brutal if I had it so I’m trying to avoid it if possible so wish me luck? Thank you all for sticking with me and see you next time!
