1 . . .
I’m getting released next week! I’m losing my mind a little bit if I’m going to be honest. I feel like I should be more nervous but for now I’m taking the marching of time with more peace than I expected to have. I’m sure it’ll hit me like the first day if school always used to on Sunday night. Wait no, I’m getting released in the early afternoon. Oh well. I guess I’ll see. It might be hard to not automatically look for my name tag to get ready for the day. It was weird for Ty. He told me.
Halloween and the Temple!
So, I was at the Temple until 6 on Halloween night, and I was chatting with some of the other ordinance workers about how we didn’t have many patrons. Course everyone was out enjoying the festivities. One lady said someone she knew thought Halloween was ‘the Devil’s Day’ and I had a thought. Halloween is based on the Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. It started as a way people would remember their deceased ancestors. And you know, why weren’t more people at the temple then?! Since we do service for our ancestors there?! I think it would have been a great way to spend Halloween. A few people did and I think they had the right idea. So I said that thought aloud to that other ordinance worker and we bonded over how perfect it would have been.
I do think Halloween is a little too commercialized, which is why it now has the misconception of being Satan’s day. I think the world has turned it into something more, well, worldly than it was intended to be. It kind of emphasizes the evil things of this world and we call it an holiday. Unfortunate yes, but as we remember our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost would keep us safe. And besides, all our days belong to God. And if you think about it, since Satan rebelled against God, he can’t inherit any part of the kingdom of heaven. Therefore he gave up everything for nothing. Just a little food for thought.
