We Spent 16 Cents On Gas...

Image
The pump broke at 16 cents so, yeah. We then spent an additional full tank worth at the pump right next to it. It's only been three days but I'll do my best to make it a worthwile email. Don't have many pictures sadly. We have a general authority coming for zone conference and a tour of the mission, which is why this week is also super wack. I just hope it all goes well because it's cause quite the buzz in the mission.  Thanksgiving!  We had Thanksgiving with the Wyatts. They're cool. I didnt take any pictures with them sadly. It was a lot of fun. I started a painting of Jesus that I finished the next day. I'll include it in this. I'm giving it to one of the Sister missionaries in my district. It's gotten good reviews so far, but feel free to let me know what you all think.  Black Friday We did a lot of store contacting on Friday because it was Black Friday and EVERYONE was there. I ended up browsing a little bit... but I spent less than 40 dollars! Foun...

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm just going to say that this week has been a heck of a ride. Craziness galore. By the way, they switched my Preparation Day this week for Thanksgiving, so that's why this is a day late. Well, to the updates!  Two Exchanges!  We went on two exchanges this week. Yeah, big week already. The first one last week when I went out of my area and into Spanish land! Listened to a couple of lessons in which I caught probably 10% of what was being said. One works in the strawberry fields and one does not. That's really all I understood. Hermana Reece said that my spanish was pretty good and that I could switch to spanish if I wanted to, but to be honest being a missionary in my native language is hard enough.  Number two was with Hermana Nelson in my area! Much more comfy in my own area, but honestly at this point I'm used to Sister Mansfield doing most of the talking, so it was an adjustment to being the one that talks. We had two lessons with our friends Sandra and Jesus, whic...

"Just Makes Sense."

Well hello everyone! Welcome back to my weekly email, and reminder that I still exist in the world somewhere. At least you have this proof I still exist. Anywhoo, I'll highlight some main events from the week. I also haven't told all of you much about the work itself so I'll give you all an update. Let's just say that it's going real well in Santa Maria.  Two people getting baptized? We have the coolest guy ever getting baptized here on Saturday! His name is Theo, and he says everything about the Gospel just makes sense. That's like his catchphrase. He is super friendly and is really excited for his baptism. I'm giving a talk on the Holy Ghost so I'll tell all of you how that goes next week!  We have another friend named Jesus that has committed to baptism! He's so cool. We taught him about Joseph Smith, he felt the Spirit really strong, and now he wants to be a part of it. We're super excited for him! Now we got to teach him the rest of the less...

Onions Are Cursed

Image
This week has been a rollercoaster of nonsense and miracles at the same time. That's probably the best way I could describe it to be honest. What is a Lateral Patellar Dislocation?  Good question. It's a fancy way of saying my knee cap popped out of its socket! That's right. I was looking at an onion because I wanted to make some Fajitas for lunches, I leaned a bit and felt it pop out of place and I fell to the floor. The Walmart people were worried, but they were nice while I sat there in pain and me and my new companion Sister Mansfield freaked out. The Walmart people called an ambulance for me, and they took me to the hospital. That was the first time I've ever ridden in an ambulance and the first time in 6 months I wasn't with my companion, since she couldnt ride with me. Scary. They took me to the ER and gave me pain meds and a doctor there put my knee back where it should be and told me I should see an Orthopedic surgeon, gave me a brace and told me to wear it...

I'm Moving!

Well hello everyone! Welcome back to my weekly email! My Preparation day is on a different day again because it's transfers, again. A lot has happened this week, so I will just jump right into it.  Transfer news!  So, I found out this morning that I am being transfered to Santa Maria! Apparently there's a lot of Spanish-speaking people and also where the Mestecko-speaking people live. Yes, we do have three languages in this mission. I'm excited to see what it's like there! Kind of sad to leave Newbury park, but I know it'll be good for me and the area. A change is always good. It'll be hard to get to know the people in the new area, but I'm sure it'll happen over time. I'm just not great with names! Horses! So, our Zone Leaders joined us for service at Ride On. They said they loved it. They originally lived out in the country before coming to serve their missions so they thought it was a fun little taste of home. I am going to miss serving there for ...
